Napoleon's cavalry was the bane of the European battlefield and his swords were absolutely first rate, being built in a state of the art factory dedicated to producing the finest edged weapons of the day.
This classic medium weight saber was the cavalry soldier's weapon of choice, possessing excellent cutting and slashing capability yet still remaining useful for thrusting. This saber was so popular that it remained in use long after Napoleon's era and was wielded by both sides in the U.S. Civil War.
It's overall appearance closely resembles the U.S. 1860 Light Cavalry Saber. This design however, is slightly different and is a far more effective and durable sword. The thick, moderately curved blade is hand forged out of 1055 Carbon steel and with a long, wide fuller and a sharp, point.
The grip is equally well constructed, wrapped in black leather and strongly protected by a stout, brass three bar hilt. This sword comes complete with a heavy duty polished steel scabbard with dual rings so it can be easily attached to your baldric or sword belt.
